There is nothing quite like a unique, hand-made stained glass window to bring colour, light, warmth and magic to your home. Think of it as a functional piece of art that will add value to your home (because who DOESN’T appreciate stained glass?) Quality and style has never gone out of fashion, and a well-made, well installed, well cared for stained glass window has the capability to last centuries. No matter how small the window, it will have a great impact on all that see it and bathe in its colour, reflections, and mood.
Choosing a design that suits the period of your home, and which reflects your personality and style, and is also compatible with its situation, can be daunting. If you aren’t sure where to start, please contact me for some friendly free advice and guidance. I am clear from the start on pricing and the possibilities within your budget. I undertake all work myself, from design through to installation, and I can also advise on the suitability of additional insulation/security measures, if required.
Here’s how I work:
Initial discussions Typically we will either meet at my studio, or ideally I can come to visit you, to discuss your idea, and the possibilities. You can be assured I will keep in touch with you from start to finish, ensuring that the final piece is exactly what you wanted, and that you will be thrilled with it. If you have no idea where to start and you want to explore possibilities, I have a portfolio of existing windows and lots more ideas to show you for inspiration. If you like, I can recommend you visit previous clients to see similar styles in situ, with their consent. I can also bring glass samples to show you, so you can see the effects within the setting. You may also be interested in additional security glass, or sealed units, for durability, security, insulation, or ease of cleaning, and these options can be discussed and if appropriate, priced for you at very competitive rates.
Design stage From our initial discussions I can get enough information and a sense of your requirements to put together a couple of designs for you to choose from, together with estimates for total cost. These designs can be tweaked until you are happy and confident to proceed. This is free of charge and you are under no obligation. If you then want to explore different designs, there will be a charge for each extra design, to cover labour time. I can assure you that whatever design you choose, you will be delighted with the result! Once you have chosen a design you are happy with, and confirm that you want to proceed, I will ask for 20% deposit to pay for materials, with the remainder to be paid on completion.
Making You should allow 3-4 weeks for your window to be made, as a very rough guide, dependant on your requirements. Please bear in mind this is a hand made product which takes time to make, and I will never rush your commission.
Completion I will deliver/install your panel(s) at an agreed time. Installation typically takes a day, and for larger projects I have a team of two professional experienced colleagues to help me. The outstanding amount should be paid on the day of installation.
